A Great Day for the Cavanagh Family

Susie Cavanagh, of Warwick, secured the 25th Connecticut Women’s Open title, her first professional win, on May 29 at Madison Country Club.
“This was a big thing for me. It is my first professional win so it feels good to get one under my belt and this was a great place to do it,” Cavanagh told CSGALinks.org. “It was a fun couple of days out here.”
Cavanagh owes the win to a few late birdies and her immense knowledge on the game of golf.
After competing at the collegiate level with Oregon State, capturing the fifth best scoring average in school history (75.27), she is currently the assistant pro at Ledgemont Country Club. Cavanagh also won the Rhode Island Women's Amateur title in 2014 and 2016.
On the greens at Cranston Country Club, her youngest brother Rich represented Pilgrim High School in the RIIL High School State Championship, finishing 8th overall in the tournament on Wednesday. On Day 1, Rich finished 3rd and knew he couldn’t get too comfortable and would have to give it his all the next day.
After playing alongside Rocco Capalbo, the newest champion, Rich stated, “I didn’t play my best, but I was with a great group of guys and they lit it up. It was very fun to watch.”
He also raved about the event saying, “It’s a great event, everybody I know loves coming here and playing this event so we had a blast.” Cavanagh is excited to continue his golf and hockey career at The Pomfret School next season.
Safe to say it was a good day on the course for the Cavanagh family.
