WARWICK – Pawtucket Country Club has won the second annual Distinguished Club Award, presented by the RIGA during the annual Awards Night Wednesday at Warwick Country Club.
The award is given in recognition of “Exceptional Dedication and Commitment to the RIGA.” Pawtucket CC hosted several championships in 2024 and has already made a huge commitment for future events. This season, Pawtucket hosted the 105th Junior Amateur Championship, Women’s Senior Amateur Championship, Women’s Stroke Play Championship, Robert Mulligan Interclub Team Championship, along with a Weekly Invitational.
“Pawtucket Country Club, its board, golf staff and members went above and beyond to support the golf association and amateur golf in Rhode Island,” said RIGA Executive Director Bob Ward. “Pawtucket is a perfect example of member club and what it means to give back to the golf community in our state. Its commitment to being the home of the Junior Amateur Championship for the next three seasons speaks volumes.”
Pawtucket CC will also be the home of the 106th, 107th and 108th editions of the Junior Amateur Championships.
“It’s a great honor and it speaks volumes about our club’s ownership and management team,” said Pawtucket Country Club’s PGA Professional Michael Gelinas. “We strive to provide a great experience for our members, guests and those that play in the events we host, so it is really nice to be recognized by the RIGA.”
Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club won the inaugural award in 2023.
