Kay Bullock, who has done an outstanding job building interest in the Classical High golf program, combined with her team's top player, RIGA Junior Champion Patrick Welch, to win the event at Pawtucket with a sparkling 3-under 66 in the better ball play. That was five strokes better than the teams of Angel and Scott McLeod and Jo-Ann and John Pellegrino Jr. Bullock and Welch had five birdies in the first 11 holes, the first by Bullock on the uphill third hole and the other four by Welch. The net competition was much tighter with Laurie and Paul Given of the home course winning on matching cards after they tied with Lynn Malloney and Steve Cook at 61, which is 8-under for the men, 11-under for the women. The inaugural event was a big success with 48 teams taking part.
