Men's Championships
The RIGA annually conducts 16 Men's Championships. In addition, the RIGA conducts qualifiers for State and USGA events.
The 2025 tournament schedule is available. There are several events with dates that have not been secured. Once dates are secured, they will be released and added to the schedule.

- 36 Holes, Stroke Play
- There will be no cut after 18 Holes

In the event of a tie, the winner shall be determined by Sudden-Death playoff immediately following
completion of regulation play.
Round 2 pairings will be based on Round 1 scores.
ELIGIBILITY: Amateur golfers who have a membership with a RIGA member club and who have a combined
team handicap index not to exceed 18.0. Handicaps will be verified.

PLAYER INFORMATION & PAIRINGS: Complete tournament details, including information about practice rounds,

ENTRY FEE: $400. The fee includes lunch after Round One and cart fees for both rounds.
LATE ENTRIES: If a player wishes to enter a tournament after the entry deadline, and if there is an available spot for
that player/side, there will be an additional charge of $25.00.
CART & CADDIE POLICY: Carts are required and included in the entry fee.

ELIGIBILITY: Male amateur golfers who have a membership with a RIGA member club and who have reached their 55th
birthday by May 19, 2025. The field will be limited to 70 teams.
HANDICAP DETERMINATION: The Index that will be used will be as of May 16, 2025. There will be a 10-stroke differential
for teams. If a team has more than 10-stroke differential, the higher handicap will be reduced.

- 36 Holes of stroke-play qualifying to determine 32 match play qualifiers
- 132 players, comprised of exempt players and qualifiers, will compete in the championship

Eligibility: Amateur golfers who have a membership with a RIGA member club or are a Rhode Island
resident and a Men's Handicap Index of not more than 10.0.

PRE-QUALIFYING ROUNDS:

Each qualifying site will be limited to 78 players. Each player will have the choice as to which site they
would like to play, until that site becomes full. The number of qualifiers at each qualifier will be
determined by the RIGA after entries close, based on the size of the field at each site.
Alternates: an alternate pool will be formed that includes ALL players from each qualifying site with
the next best score after the cut line. After qualifying, all players in the pool will then be randomly
selected and ranked by number as alternates. The alternate list for will be published, posted online
and updated as players are added to the Championship Proper.

ENTRY FEE:
QUALIFYING FEE: $130.
CHAMPIONSHIP FEE: $100. Player's advancing to the Championship will be responsible for a $100.00
Championship fee. This fee will be due from the player upon being transferred to the Championship
proper in the online registration system. The credit card used to initially register will be charged
$70.00 to complete the processing of the Championship fee.
EXEMPT PLAYER FEE: $220. For players who are exempt from pre-qualifying and includes the Entry
fee, Championship fee and lunch on day 1 of the Championship Proper.
LATE ENTRIES: If a player wishes to enter a tournament after the entry deadline, and if there is an
available spot for that player, there will be an additional charge of $25.00.
CART & CADDIE POLICY: Cart and Caddie policy: Motorized carts will not be
permitted for use during the Championship Proper. Motorized Carts are only permissible
during the pre-qualifying stage. Cart fees are not included in the entry fee. If a player chooses to
take a cart for the pre-Qualifying round, the fee can be paid on the day of competition in the club's golf
shop. A player may take a caddie, use a push/pull cart or carry their own bag at any stage of the competition.

competition. Caddies cannot be over the age of 18. Motorized carts are not allowed. Push carts are permissible.
Spectator carts are not allowed.
DRESS CODE: Proper golf attire is expected. Collared shirt and slacks or knee-length shorts only. Examples of attire
not acceptable: short shorts, cargo shorts, athletic shorts, jeans, jean shorts, tank tops and t-shirts.

- There will be a cut after 18 Holes to low 42 players plus ties.
- The Senior Division will cut after 18 Holes to low 15 players plus ties.

ELIGIBILITY: Male amateur golfers who are RIGA members and have a membership with a RIGA member club
and who have a handicap index of not more than 10.0.
SENIOR DIVISION: For competitors who have reached their 55th birthday by Aug. 4, 2025. The Senior
Division will be a 36-Hole competition and comprised of the Seniors playing the forward tees only. The low
15 Seniors plus ties will play Round Two. If a Senior plays the back tee, they will be competing in the main event
only. Should a Senior playing in the main event earn Player of the Year
points, they will be added to the Senior Player of the Year.

ELIGIBILITY:
Field will be limited to 132 players.
Professionals: RI PGA members, New England PGA members and apprentices, and RI Residents will pay an entry fee of $400.00.
Unaffiliated & Non-RI Resident Professionals: Will be eligible and pay an entry fee of $500.00.
Amateurs: RIGA members with a handicap index of 2.5 or less and must have 2024 or 2025 Player of the Year points. Preference
will be give to professionals. All amateurs will be put on a waiting list and will be notified of their status after the entry
deadline. The amateur entry fee is $200.00.

separate purse for the Senior Division. A portion of the entry fee for the Seniors will be allocated to this purse.
